Whenever I’m about to go on a really long road trip, I always mentally prepare myself by imagining it as some sort of Tolkien-like quest.

Except instead of going to Mount Doom, we’re going to Virginia.

And instead of elves, there will be rednecks.

Also, replace the tower Barad-dur with a bunch of anti-Obama billboards.

But yeah, other than that, it’s basically the same thing.

I think the small text should be bigger.

see…heres my thing with tipping. i understand that they get paid under minimum wage and that they rely on getting tips from people…but im only going to tip if you provide me a good service. every time i go to a restaurant i always get a grumpy waitress that takes my order, gets my order wrong and then gives me an attitude when i ask politely to fix it. my waitresses never come back to my table to come check up on me. ill either have to call them to get my check or they just “happen” to pass by when we’re finished eating. im not going to tip a waitress if im being ignored the whole time.

i think ive only tipped one of two waitresses in my life and they received about 5 - 7 bucks from me because they not only kept checking up on me, but they actually made convo with me and made me laugh.

and please don’t give me an excuse that you’re in a “bad mood” that day…i work in retail. i have problems at home and customers that treat me like shit, yet i still put up with it all and have a smile on my face for the next customer. and i dont get paid any extra for it…

OK, I told myself that I wouldn’t reply to any of these posts because after it got to a certain number of reblogs it wouldn’t make a difference. But I keep seeing people say things like this and I think something needs to be said.

With all due respect (and I seriously mean this) I find it highly doubtful that you’ve only gotten two servers in your entire life that were worthy of a decent tip (and depending on the size of your check that may or may not be decent ).

Customers don’t often realize this but your attitude going into a restaurant often dictates the service you’ll get. You may think you’ve been polite and accommodating but if that many servers have been “undeserving” of your tips, you may seriously want to rethink the way you’ve been treating servers at restaurants.

People keep saying that they don’t tip servers because they’re all rude and lazy but as a former server I can honestly say that this perception is rooted in delusion.

Your dining experience is a two way street. If you treat your server with dignity and respect (which is a lot more than just saying please and thank you, but you’d be surprised how little these words are said) a server will usually go out of their way to take care of you.

PSA: seriously, tip your waiters. I’m looking at you, table 73.

I tested Walmart’s brand of bottled water and I was shocked to see they sell the most toxic water ever. I tested for Total Dissolved Solids using a TDS meter and the number I got was 271. THAT IS THE MOST TOXIC WATER I HAVE EVER SEEN. Even NYC tap water TDS score is 39. Poland Spring is 42. The water is not even drinkable. I think it’s Criminal to even make profits from selling this water filled with sodium fluoride and who knows what else is in that. 500 ppm (parts per million) is the EPA Maximum but even though the FDA is corrupt their recommended is 000, which is pure.

THE ONLY BOTTLED WATER THAT READS 000 IS DUANEreade/Walgreens ‘NICE’ branded water.

Total Dissolved Solids are mostly made up of inorganic salts like potassium, calcium, and magnesium. These minerals are found naturally in groundwater, and are often re-added to distilled drinking water because perfectly pure water tends to taste flat. (If you’ve ever heard water referred to as “hard” or “soft,” it refers to the presence or absence of these same dissolved compounds.)

The EPA’s TDS maximum is 500 PPM, but this is based on aesthetic and taste preference rather than health impact. This water falls well within the established guidelines. It would take waaaay more than 500 PPM of any of these compounds to have any sort of health impact whatsoever.

TL;DR: TDS levels =/= toxicity levels.

London-based designer Sophie de Oliveira Barata creates some of the most jaw-droppingly awesome prosthetics we’ve ever seen.

Sophie comes from an art background, with a first class honours degree at London Arts University where she studied Special Effects prosthetics for film and T.V. She then went on to work for 8 years, as a sculptor making realistic looking, bespoke prosthetics for amputees at one of the leading prosthetic providers. She worked in all areas sculpting fingers, toes, partial feet , partial hands, bespoke liners and leg and arm covers for amputees. In her spare time she made more experimental art work in this medium, before setting up her own studio.

Known as The Alternative Limb Project, Sophie works as a specialist consultant with other prosthetists and produces both artificial limbs that look completely realistic as well as limbs created using imaginative ideas provided by the clients themselves. “She can interpret your ideas and create a unique design that will reflect your interests and personality.”

As you can see here, Sophie’s work is truly astonishing. As well as being completely functional prostheses, these amazing limbs are also unique works of art.

Each of her designs offer a sense of individuality, allowing the customer to express their personality through their synthetic appendages. The artist says, “Having an alternative limb is about claiming control and saying ‘I’m an individual and this reflects who I am.’”
